How to Create Your Wedding Reception Playlist

Planning your wedding means that you should be careful of even the smallest detail in your celebration. Even though you may decide to hire a DJ to play the music in your wedding reception, it still is a good idea to create a playlist for the event. This is so you can choose the songs that you would like to listen to on your big day. Instead of having the DJ play just about any song, you can have him play a certain genre or song title for your reception.

When it comes to creating your wedding playlist, there are some songs that you will need to consider. Use these things to help you pick out the right songs to include in your reception playlist:

What are your key songs?
Do you have a set of favorite songs that you and your fiancé love to listen to? Make sure that you sit down with your fiancé and talk about the songs that you would like to be played at your wedding reception. Think about the songs you both enjoy listening to on your dates. Also, include the songs that you were listening to when you first met, shared your first kiss, or first knew that you were in love with one another. This is a great way you can walk down memory lane and discover new things about your partner.

Consider the theme of your wedding
If you have decided to use a theme for your wedding, you should also think about the music genre that would be fitting to it. For example, if you have a beach wedding, you may want to include reggae music into your playlist instead of using country music.

Consider your Guests
When planning the music for your wedding reception, you should also consider the interests of your guests as well as their age. If you will have guests of the older crowd, you can incorporate some of the popular songs that they enjoy. This is the best way you can get your guests on the dance floor in no time!

Coordinate with your DJ
Remember that your chosen DJ has experience working with wedding playlists. For this, make sure to consult with him on some opinions and suggestions of songs that would be great for your wedding reception. You can get new tips from him!

Of course, you wouldn't want to restrict your DJ with the songs you want to be played in your reception. Considering that you hired a professional DJ to help you with your music, you can simply give him a list of the songs you enjoy and trust that he will take care of the rest.
